1940s, "Collectors dream". Carved wooden shoes that were hand carved during WWII. The outer main fabric and straps are made of black velvet with beautiful embroidered flowers. The ankle has a metal buckle fastening. These shoes were originally carved from one piece of wood and have the most fabulous carved palm trees and tiki huts along the footbed. The words, "Phillipines" is painted on the inside of the shoe. The shoes are painted with red, pink, orange and green against a black background. Fabulous quality. These look like they have never been worn and cherished with love. No evidence of wear to the original sole making this pair a remarkable find. They are an exceptional collectors piece. Although these shoes to date don't look like they have been worn, they are ready and waiting an outing and can easily be worn as they are ready to go. The question is ... to wear or not to wear... either way a stunning piece of history that would be a show stopper for any collector or 1940s fashionista adding an instant creative flair to your 1940s attire.
