Ahh vintage! It evokes so much doesn't it when you look behind the smoke screens of an aesthetic and vibe. For me vintage is not only a sustainable and ethical choice that is flowing with psychedelic grooves on grooves, individual flair and swagger blended with all the colours of the rainbow it is also beautifully etched with special memories and connections to my family roots and grandparents. I have so many fond memories of my grandparents and it's where my curiosity, true love of old things, admiration, and appreciation started side by side with my uber groovy mum and dad !
All that swirling and twirling organically forming over time into creating my little vintage boutique. From the love of 60's & 70's West German colourful orange and yellow pottery, (that I still collect and have some of my grandparents original pieces) to Mucha art that was displayed in my grandparents home, learning to crochet, sew, mend, create, & not to mention playing dressing up with my sister!
A firm favourite was the swirly 50's /60's /70's nightdresses, capes, and elaborate flowing gowns dancing and swirling round and round till you felt sick and of course grandads overalls and work dungarees and flat cap were most definitely one of my favourite's! (I've been frantically looking for all the photos to share :)
Usually a fashion show/parade of sorts and comedy show thrown in on a Sunday when mum & dad, my older sister and me, great grans & pretty much our whole family would get together for a Sunday roast at our nana & grandads home!
Vintage connections...Well now we throw out words more specific and names such as vintage and antique but as a child it was really about objects and pieces that evoke colourful connections, playfulness, love and those special memories that connect. There are lots of other personal connections in there as I'm a sentimental soul and so these things become part of Amermani's attic flow. If you'd like to join in then your final task is to find my Nana and great Gran right here on the website. They really could be anywhere! Might be a small nod or more specific, obvious, you decide! And happy hunting beautiful one's. Clue...check out all area's of the website! They are located in separate places.
You can message me with your answer on our contacts page or DM over on my instagram account. I'm looking for the location of where they were both located and any specifics you think form the answer. All correct entrants will be entered into the draw.
